What is the Daily Prompt?

The Daily Prompt is a free daily English speaking exercise by SpeakingCamps. Every day there is one new question at four levels. You read the question, take three useful phrases and answer out loud for 60 seconds. It takes about five minutes.

Is it free?

Yes. Today's question, the phrases, recording your answer and your streak are free, with no account. Voice feedback from a tutor on your recordings, all courses and group classes come with SpeakingCamps membership on Skool.

Which level should I choose?

There are four levels: Pre-Intermediate and Intermediate get the easier question (about A2-B1), Upper-Intermediate and Advanced get the harder one (about B2-C1). If you are not sure, take the 60-second level test on the page and it sets your level for you. You can also save your level link: Pre-Intermediate · Intermediate · Upper-Intermediate · Advanced.

How long does it take each day?

About five minutes: one minute to read the question and phrases, one minute to say the phrases out loud, 60 seconds to record your answer and a minute to listen back.

How does the streak work?

Press Done after you answer out loud, recorded or not. Each day you press Done adds one day to your streak. If you miss a day, the streak starts again. Your streak is saved in the browser on your device, so a new phone or browser starts from zero.

What happens to my recording?

Your recording stays on your device unless you press Send my answer. If you send it, it is saved with your name and email. Members get voice feedback on it from a SpeakingCamps tutor. Privacy

Can I do yesterday's question?

The free page shows today's question only. SpeakingCamps members can open any day of the year.

Can I read the instructions in my language?

Yes. Use the Language button at the top for French, Portuguese or Russian. The questions and phrases stay in English, because that is what you practice.

Do I need to install anything?

No. It works in Chrome or Safari on a phone or a computer. To record, allow the microphone when the browser asks.

How can I practice with other people?

Join SpeakingCamps on Skool. It is free to join and includes the Saturday speaking club on Zoom and the daily question thread. Membership adds group classes by level, all courses and voice feedback on your recordings.

Who makes the Daily Prompt?

SpeakingCamps, an English speaking practice community for adults, especially people who use English at work and newcomers to Canada. It was created by Olga Dobrozhan, who has more than 13 years in training and learning design and has taught English one-to-one and at a school.
